Court Reporter Services
Can the Notice of Deposition allow a non-licensed person to record your proceeding?
Upon review of random invoices, some court reporting firms charged full transcript page rates for non-testimony pages. The increase in costs to counsel ranged from 13.7% – 37.27%.
A digital reporter is a person with a tape recorder, not a certified court reporter. They sit with a digital tape recorder and make notes for a transcriber.
Unavailability at the time of trial is perhaps the most commonly given reason for video recording a deposition, but there are other reasons as well.
There is no such thing as too much advance notice when it comes to booking a court reporter. Since deposition court reporters are independent contractors working for multiple firms, it is important that proceedings be scheduled as soon as a deposition/trial date is set.
Rates may vary depending on the location and type of proceeding, and there are many factors that can affect your final invoice amount.
